Important Trip Info

Convoy of Hope’s work in Puerto Rico started with the disaster response to Hurricane Maria in 2017. Following the initial relief efforts of Convoy’s Disaster Services team, Field Teams began rehabilitation efforts — helping communities and churches work toward long-term sustainability. We moved from rehabilitation to partnering closely with local churches, and we recently had a Rural Initiatives training where several pastors from across the island learned best practices for impacting their communities.

With this, Convoy of Hope works with local churches and ministries across Puerto Rico, helping children, senior citizens, schools, and more. Field Teams continues to walk forward with local people and church leaders to fight against poverty and hopelessness. Teams might assist with a wide variety of projects, including construction, community development, and relational ministry to both under-resourced and marginalized community members. Each opportunity will be somewhat different depending on the team and the current needs on the ground. Your team’s specific project and location will be identified and communicated closer to your trip. And of course, your team will also explore places rich with history and a fascinating culture.
