Rockaway Beach, MO

In the heart of the Ozarks, about an hour south of Convoy of Hope’s World Distribution Center, our Rural Initiatives is engaged in the community of Rockaway Beach, Missouri.

We are honored to partner with a growing local church, whose pastor is fighting for the soul of his community. Field Teams work with him and his congregation in transforming this former resort town — filled with deep poverty, methamphetamine use, and broken families — into one where citizens flourish and understand their true identity.

The church purchased an abandoned resort and is working to renovate buildings into local businesses that provide new jobs and opportunities. Throughout the year, Field Teams assist the church with renovating the site, engaging local citizens through church programs, and assisting with the church-run thrift store.

Teams serve alongside members of a local church through efforts to better the community, help at a thrift store, renovate a former resort to businesses to help the local economy and through other projects to help the church build momentum in the community.
