Important Trip Info

The country of Slovakia has a Roma population of approximately 500,000. Convoy of Hope has worked closely with this people group over the years. The residents of these communities are very open to community engagement and assistance to their children. As part of a robust Convoy of Hope strategy in Slovakia, we work with local churches to feed children, serve with Roma leaders in Roma communities, tutor children, serve through agriculture, empower women, and more. Teams can help build capacity in these areas of engagement by helping with row gardens, greenhouses, and other agricultural activities. This agriculture piece is critical to the program to offset the rising costs of food in Europe due to skyrocketing inflation because of the conflict in Ukraine. There may also be ways teams can help with elements of the women’s empowerment initiative.

Types of Projects

Field Teams partner with the local churches by helping them build capacity to better serve children, women, and others in their circle of influence. Teams may help with agricultural initiatives, interact with children and young people, women’s empowerment, and serve the local people. Also, there’s potential for construction projects of varying degrees, depending on your group’s skill set and desire.

With the opportunities in Slovakia, raising more funds allows for greater possibilities.

We work closely with our in-country team to determine the specific projects your team will take part in and will communicate that to you at least 60 days prior to your trip.
